Merak railway station, full of history with a very important role on Java-Sumatra interisland connection and local society economics and trading, is threatened.
ASDP will demolish and replace the soon to be station's former land into a parking lot for Executive-class port.
KAI have no authority over this despite them being the railway operator, this is because the land is de jure owned by ASDP since the dissolution of PJKA in 1992.
They will also decide to move the terminus station to Cilegon and operate a feeder bus from there to Merak port. This is not ideal as the station's road access is merely a small gangway compared to Merak, and may cause headscratching traffic jams throughout Cilegon city and its nearby towns.
