On August 28th 2025, Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi from Gojek Indonesia (similar to Uber) passed away after being ran over by a police tactical vehicle amidst a protest. Affan wasn’t protesting. He was delivering food to a customer. He literally was just doing his job. Yet the police ran him over with a heavy Barracuda vehicle. The crowd of protesters were screaming for the police to stop the car. But they didn’t. Affan Kurniawan was only 21 years old.
