I relapsed. And I think I want to post it because it is reality. I have had a few people commenting that I am milking things. I dont care about the money. 5 years ago I set myself up for the ability to retire, so everything stopped being me. You know what sucks? I messaged you before my parents, so this is how they will see it. For the 1 out of 1000 this is what i needed to see, when i was relapsing. id drop my entire following if it helped 1 person not go through it,

When an addict relapses they usually fall into a bout of guilt. Don't continue to relapse because you can't handle the guilt. It won't cover the pain. The only path is to be kind to yourself and trust that you are trying.

No one expects you to make no mistakes. This does not take away from your massive accomplishments already. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come. We all are. We’ll always be here to cheer you on, Pat.

Recovery is not linear, relapse helps heal as long as you use that relapse to give you determination to stay sober. Pat we all believe in you

Don’t worry man, just stay on the straight and narrow as much as you can. Setbacks happen, but keep pushing onward.

You can't milk something you went through. This is your experience. These are things YOU went through. Talk about it forever if you want, it's yours to share.

4 months is equal to 121 days. I am also fighting an addiction and when I relapsed recently (went 12 days which is the longest I've been able to go) he told me that 12 steps forward 1 step back is still 11 steps forward. So you still took 120 steps forward. We all believe in you Pat, just remember to believe in yourself because I know how hard it can be to do that after relapsing.

This September, I celebrated being 3 years free of self harm. 3 years ago, I would have never thought I would have gone 3 years without harming myself. The last time I hurt myself was after I went 6 months without hurting myself. Progress takes time and during that progress there will be steps backwards. You don't get to 3 years without going about it 1 day at a time. I believe in you, Pat. It might not be 3 years from today, but someday you'll get to 3 years. Just don't let today derail the progress you've made. You got this!!!

Hey Pat! I’m a college student studying in Addiction and mental health work. It’s important to know that people can be without substances for decades and relapse, but it doesn’t make their time without using substances invalid. You’ve worked hard for months, and you made a mistake. It’s so admirable that you’re being open about it, and owning up to it to yourself. We’re still here to support you on your journey! Recovery is never a straight line 💕 you got this, one step at a time :

Relapsing doesn't mean you lost, it means there's more work to be done and more action that needs to be taken. It's not over! You went sober before, you can do it again

As a struggling alcoholic, relapse isn't the end. The fact that you care means you're still on the path to recovery. You're doing better than me. Stay strong

Breaking a streak of over 130 days is nothing to be sad about. Even the best have off days. See it as a journey to heal and to better the mind and not add numbers to a tally of days. Stay strong and keep it up Pat!
