So Prehistoric Planet Ice Age was spectacular as always but I think it needed a few things:
1. Focus It seems to be going for narratives about how the Pleistocene glacial activity changed the world, but then undermines this by zipping around the globe randomly, never really being specific on locations or ecosystems, etc. There are the segments at the end that talk about it but I feel this should've been more interwoven in the show itself 2. Humans We had a REALLY big role in the Pleistocene changes. Us, Neanderthals and other earlier human species had a major impact on the environment and other than a brief cameo at the end we're never really mentioned. 3. More violence This season is a bit better than the dinosaur seasons in this regard-we actually see kills here, but if the series is painting pictures about how difficult life was in the ice age, why not show us how animals pushed through brutal injuries?
Overall still a fantastic show, not quite as high quality as the Walking With trilogy as a program or the first two seasons (some of the cgi shots did look off here like the Arctic fox, night vision scenes, etc) but still give this support. I'm not seeing nearly as much love for it as the dinosaur seasons and that's a real shame.
