Tobias was literally introduced so Ash wouldn’t win

Tobias was the sort of character that you can tell absolutely no thoughts went into

At least the other characters here were KNOWN before the league started. And none of them carried a team of legendaries for no reason. Tobias wasn't built up at all, he just kinda spawned in and went through everyone with just Darkrai. He didn't just cheat Ash out of a win, he cheated everyone. If Paul represents a competitive player, Tobias was the hacker.

The worst part is the league checks your pokemon for the specific league you're entering, so they looked at Tobias team as was like: All Good here

The worst part about Tobias is that he was never seen after that battle That man was a literal embodiment of the writers just showing up so Ash can't win cause he was unstoppable in Sinnoh league

At least with Alain, he was an interesting character, had a nice dynamic with Ash and their battle was built up to ever since they met in x & y. Tobias legit showed up out of nowhere with 2 mythicals, stole the win, and left forever. Shit just screams plot device.

No shit it was Tobias, dude literally had Darkrai AND Latios. Are there supposed to be multiple Latios and Latias in the anime? Because we keep saying Latios as more than just the second pick of Tobias.

tobias had legendaries he was bound to win. Cameron had plot armor so strong even leon wouldn’t stand a chance

Ash defeats Darkrai. The first person to ever do that apparently. So you’re thinking “ok sure Ash is down 2 mons but that darkrai swept the entire league so surely it’s downhill from here”. And then this dude sends out a latios. Two legends on one team, like this dude had an Action Replay or something. Not only that, we got no backstory or any continuity from Tobias. Just literally written to give the middle finger to Ash and dipped out permanently.

Tobias pulled up with a legendary and a mythical, refused to elaborate, and was never seen again. What a gigachad.

Did we forget that ash lost to cameron, a dumb ahh who brought out a grass steel on fire, water flying on electric and cant read a stop sign, forgot you need 8 badges not 7, and over all... yeah it sucked. Obviously lucario had to win

As of right now there is no way ash vs alain is higher than ash vs cameron. Alain was a genuinely powerful trainer with a lot of experience so him being able to beat ash makes a lot of sense, but cameron was a complete goofball who brought 5 pokemon to the battle and a riolu that beat a fully evolved flying type, evolved mid battle and just swept ash’s team.

Definitely Tobias, my guy literally spawned out of nowhere with like zero backstory and had A MYTHICAL AND A LEGENDARY LIKE WHAT!?

Honestly Tobias, because what are the chances some dude whips out 2 legendaries, like bro there was no character development to Tobias, we don't know how he got those legendaries. All we know is that he is some random trainer with 2 legendaries, we don't even know the rest of his team. That's how rigged it was, it was completely unfair

Between Cameron and Tobias. With both battles the writers did Ash criminally dirty because Tobias shouldn't have existed and Cameron should not have won. But personally, Cameron's win ruffles my feathers more.

If it’s Ash and Trip’s first battle then definitely that one. That Pikachu had taken on literal Pokemon gods and lost to a level 5 Snivy that somehow knows Leaf Tornado?
