STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS ON THE SOPRANOS ENDING FOR ANYONE WHO CARES 🚨SPOILERS AHEAD 🚨 Great final scene. Great ending overall. No ifs/ands/butts: Tony got his brain and skull bone splattered all over those Onion Rings. The ding of the door’s bell is Meadow walking in at just the worst moment, she screams like the girl in Little Miss Sunshine (this is an easter egg, that movie’s on TV at Sil’s hospital earlier in the ep.), etc. etc. About every 9 days I’ll be going about my day and then the thought will enter my head: “God, remember the Sopranos ending and how crazy that must have been for Tony’s family” or “Tony really got himself shot by effing Patisie and Paulie, and it was probably Mead who let slip the location of the diner.” You know those two Black guys went nuts when Tony got sh*t to death at Hoslten’s Diner. Yooo what the f*ck! Yo this n**ga just got popped! Motherf**kers drilling out here. Yo who the fuck is this members only n**gga, you just gonna drop the gun and bounce like that? Shieet yo is the dead n*^ga your Dad? Shit bro I'm sorry come here. This sh*t is craaaaazy man. Aw shiid the police are gonna be hear, we better bounce! Shiet I’m on parole lesgo I am a big fan of David Chase’s choice to end the show with Tony getting himself killed (look at me, victim blaming) and to explicitly express death as a black screen. Death and its inevitability was such a present theme throughout the show - there’s no need for kid gloves when discussing what happens after you die. It’s sad - but that’s life and the show. Also great: the waves of confused reactions and calls to cable companies that David Chase brought into being by deciding to end wit—----. I’d love to be a fly on the wall with a time machine to watch households across America try to explain that one on first-watch, back in 07. I’m envisioning shouting matches, agape jaws. I also find myself ruminating on the tragic arc of Meadow into the private sector law world. She really was just another Ivy league rich kid. I went to one of those schools with a lot of those kids- they all end up working at whichever firm has a family friend who can get them an interview. AJ.. kid probably has PTSD from the final scene of The Sopranos. Carm.. I mean how do you get over that? Watching your closest loved one get Godfather Bathroom’d. Think of the blood. The whole boothful have gotta be riddled with mental problems. Carm drinks. Meadow self-immolates. AJ turns to percs, the only thing that’ll soothe the anxious flinches at the slightest bang. People in my neighborhood are starting to set off fireworks a couple times a week, and the usual slew of neighbors complain in earnest and to no avail, saying that everytime a firework goes off, their dog simply loses it. Suffers. And of course: the veterans, fireworks are no good for them. Anyways, AJ didn’t end up going to fight a war in the Middle East (though I enjoyed the inclusion of him freaking out about terrorism, and then wanting to enlist. His character was extremely annoying to watch but an accurate capture of that kind of guy) because his rich parents weren’t gonna let him do something as stupid as shipping overseas for 2 years only to come back with maybe a nub of an arm and a case of PTSD, BUT he probably got the ole ‘TSD from Mr Members Only ANYWAY. Talk about a real jerk, by the way. Back to the final scene. The metaphor of Parallel-Parking Meadow is (not this time) Tony’s Savior was great - all of my firsthand experience with girlfriends suggests they really can’t parallel park. Also, God, I did not care for the AJ Meadow Super Bowl commercial for whatever Eco SUV was new at the time. However, it’s something Meadow and AJ would do, for their separate reasons. The scene is so tight - the way tension is built with the parallel parking and door-enterings is such a great way to elevate a normal evening for Tony. Then combine it with the deliberate cuts to different customers, evoking Americana ease and subtle paranoia (guy with the USA cap over his eyes was very suspicious, not to mention those two Black guys). Tony and AJ’s “don’t be sarcastic” “isn’t that what you said some time, try to remember the times that were good” exchange hits emotionally - they did a great job with those two’s fraught relationship and genetic linkage. I should write a spec script about AJ’s 20s, 30s and 40s. James Galdalfini is just so lovable and homely, see his “Best in the State, far as I’m concerned” delivery. Tony is the best TV character in the state of Hollywood, far as I’m concerned. First time watching the final scene, I was significantly thrown by the music choice of "Don't Stop Believing." I had some knee-jerk aversion to the song, I guess because it seems corny, and I thought to myself "is Chase really ending the show with a song by Journey." How did it play to a 2007 audience? There is a slight leftward tilt to one of the shots of Tony sitting alone at the booth, among a room of diners, when he’d first arrived. It’s the wide angle shot that is slightly-abruptly cut to after a close up of Tony from the opposite angle. Anyways, I swear there’s a slightly tilted orientation, maybe 177 degrees instead of 180. And I swear it’s a deliberate choice to signal the state of things for To

“Why do they call it, ‘this thing of ours?’ I mean, uh… I didn’t come up with any of this stuff, but shouldn’t it really be called, ‘this thing of some old, dead dagos?’”

I Didn't Even Know He Was Sick
Sometimes when I'm on my other YouTube account, these community posts show up in my feed with just the text and not the sick and frankly fucking hilarious images, which are the centerpiece of any post here. Reminds me of that tragedy where all those people got vaporized. If you're reading this, and I pray you are, make sure you can see the photoshopped material that I intend to present you with. Frankly, it's extremely high level stuff and at the cutting edge of Norm legacy remembrance, so I'd hate for you to miss it. Anyways, if you're still reading have a good Monday pal. You're a good guy.
