Robert Marzullo

Hello, My Fellow Artists!

I just wanted to share one of my new blog posts with you. This one is called, "How to Draw the Torso with the Bean Shape Method."

This method is a great way to draw this portion of the human body more organically. When we begin to add more bend and twist to the midsection, our figures look much more expressive and alive.

Starting with the bean shape can guide us in that direction.

You can view this blog post on my website here: ramstudioscomics.com/index.php/2025/03/03/how-to-d…

If you have any questions about the content, please let me know—I’d love to see your art! :)

Have a great weekend, and good luck with your studies!

Best regards,

Robert

@TheKevphil

Back in the early 1970s, I took a mandatory class in sculpting in which the professor was trying to codify the bean-construction method for drawing and visualization. Everything old is new again! ;) Godd stuff, Rob!

Very nice. I notice a bean shape works well for breaking down parts of the body. Maybe because a bean is a naturally rounded/organic shape?
