Have you ever had a positive or negative experience with law enforcement?

I’ve had nice cops and asshole cops pull me over. Whether they are nice or being an asshoels doesn’t matter. What matters is how you interact and behave in that situation. Even if the cop is in the wrong you still need to act accordingly and always fight it later. Never been pulled out of my car.

I have noticed that as I've gotten older (I'm currently 58) and no longer do things that are really, really stupid, the police are much nicer to me...funny how that works.

I had to return some items at Kohls. Didn’t know there were two parking lots. Came to where I thought I left my car and there was nothing left but a pile of glass. Hysterical I grabbed a cop just pulling in on his motorcycle. May God help me my car was stolen!! I walk him over to the glass where I assumed they broke in. He looked at it and said Ma’am that’s a coke bottle! 🙄 He said did you know there’s two entrances? He walked me to the other side and there was my car where I’d left it. He was very kind-tho I’m sure he cracked up when I left. But other than being in some volunteer efforts & working in our capitol building I’ve not dealt with cops.

I'm in the UK. I had an accident where a drunk driver hit my car and 2 others. The cops were super helpful. The other person was drunk and we all did breathalyser checks and while she was drunk as fuck we were all good. Cops were quick and professional. No pissing about.

650,000 uniformed police officers make 41,000,000 interactions with the public every year

The local sheriff department where i live is solid. If they show up, I feel more comfortable the situation will be handled well. The city PD are awful, there was a driveby outside the apartment i was staying at, i called 911 because we were scared because the shots were less than a block away from us. 911 operators connected us with city police, we stayed on hold for about 7 or 8 minutes and the line hung up. Never got a response from pd.

I grew up on the street in a big city. I was walked to this 24/7 grocery store then this police officer stopped me flashing a flashlight at me. He asked what wss in the sack, I got mad and tore the sack up and dumped the groceries on the sidewalk. It was in the 1980's but he made me really mad.

Even when I was arrested for a large amount of weed the deputy that took me in was so nice. Me and him were respectful to each other. I knew I was caught and wasn’t going to fight it or run. I was out within 24 hours and my charges ended up being dropped due to the delays from Covid. Point is don’t fight the cops and argue over stupid shit. Just comply and be respectful and you’ll be fine Mx

Mixed. The negative was always with staties, which I wasn't surprised because they're mostly flunkies.

Positive and negative are on completely different spectrums.

Mine was positive but probably because nobody freaked out on power or panic and we all had a sense of humor, I was stopped at a bus stop with an 8th, I told the 3 HUGE cops that I (tiny 22F atm) was like a wild animal so they should be scared, we all laughed and they took my green while I got a ticket, next time I saw them at the bus stop they asked if I remembered them and I said ‘nah, don’t y’all know I do drugs?’ Again we all laughed, nice guys 🤷🏻‍♀️ wish I saw them again now that it’s legal here ha

I'm always nice to them. There is nothing you will settle on the street. The court is where the magic happens. Why people start screaming, I know my rights and asking for Miranda, I really don't understand . Keep your mouth shut. Why are you helping them? Let them mess up, then tell the lawyer. If I was a cop and someone was telling me you didn't do this or that, I would thank them for reminding me so they don't get out of the charges. People get mad and fly off the handle without thinking. If you really believe your rights are being violated, keep your mouth shut and call a lawyer afterward. You can dance all the way to the bank. Unless it's your 4th Amendment, you have to invoke it. If you don't, then you waved it. Just say I invoke my 4th Amendment rights, then shut up. Don't let on that you know anything just play dumb and make money.

Had one protecting a Nazi, I spent 26 hours in jail. The judge had some choice words for him, priceless!

I am a modestly attractive white woman in Canada with no drug problems and no record. I don’t think I could have a bad interaction even if I was stealing a cops car.

I’ve gotten pulled over for a lot of reasons, I’ve never had a ‘bad experience’ but part of me wants to say I did but it’s more likely because the outcome was on me

good interactions w city cops, bad with local. for a lot of people its opposite. i find local cops are more genuine but have more room to be corrupt. city cops can be assholes but theyre always in line.

In high school we launched water balloons at a convenience store with a launcher and accidentally hit a cop car. He pulled a gun on us because it scared the absolute sh*t out of him when it hit the hood of his car.
