Building Success Beyond the Spotlight: The Secret to Strong Relationships and Lasting Impact (3-5 Minute Read)
Question: “What’s it like handling your marketing and strategy? Do you follow a specific plan, or do you take it day by day?”
Great question!
Managing the marketing and advertising for Rodric King might look effortless, but trust me, it’s anything but! With two Facebook pages, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, there’s always something happening.
The strategy was simple at first—start with one platform, build the fanbase there, and then expand to other platforms where I exist.
YouTube was my first step, followed by TikTok. Because of my viral video Unchained Melody, I’m working on both Facebook and Instagram simultaneously. I have several strategies running simultaneously to keep the momentum going.
One challenge I recently addressed was making it easy for new followers to access what they were looking for quickly. The solution? I created a bridge between the platforms so fans could seamlessly navigate everything. It’s like building a network that connects the dots—one platform generates above-average results, and my other pages do well due to the network.
That was an ongoing issue I finally found a solution to.
I’m always looking for the next big move that will launch Rodric King Music even further. Of course, the goal is fanbase growth, but beyond that, it's the Grammy.
What better way to tip the odds in your favor than working with Grammy-nominated or Grammy Award-winning artists, engineers, producers, and songwriters?
To make that happen, I do my research, identify the key players who align with my goals, and target them. Having corporate experience, I am good at getting past gatekeepers because I’ve had them.
But you can't really move forward without going viral first. After you are viral, the fun starts: entertaining the fans by giving them what they want and collaborating with top-tier artists, producers, and songwriters. It takes a lot of work, but the payoff is worth it.
My background in administration plays a key role in this, especially when it comes to scheduling, communication, and building strong relationships. It's all about keeping your word, punctuality, and never letting correspondence slip through the cracks. When people check out your social media presence, you want to be someone they’re excited to work with. I take pride in my professionalism, loyalty, integrity, teamwork, leadership, and constant drive to learn and grow.
When you get that opportunity to work with great people, everything changes. All it takes is one song to hit.
That’s Phase I of my strategy. Beyond the music, I’m considering long-term goals: relaunch my clothing line (Hon Tiers), owning commercial real estate, launching impactful nonprofits in the aviation industry, building compelling fan incentive programs, and creating a syndication for my first cruise line.
Phase II will be much easier than Phase I because I believe in teamwork, but both phases require one thing: strategy. If you want to get anywhere in life or business, you’ve got to play chess, not checkers. Literally!
I’ve been marketing and advertising Rodric King Music since 2010. The journey’s been long, but seeing how far the ship has sailed is rewarding. Phase II? That’s where I change the world. The change starts with me.
