There is nothing "nice" about banning people just because of the country they happened to be born in. Russia is not by any stretch of imagination a democratic country. So it's just not fair to spread the responsibility for the war over all the russians/belorussians. Many people are against the war in Russia and are risking their safety during street protests and by voicing their opinion publicly. And the conference organisers are probably aware of all this. Unlike you in your commentary, they carefully choose their words and make it clear that they ban the people based on their affiliation and not on their nationality. Banning or cancelling people based on their nationality is just an example of xenophobia and goes, in my opinion, against the western ideals. P. S.
