Geography King

I'm going to be posting a follow-up video to my previous one about examining an atlas from 1936. It didn't exactly get a million views, but those that watched it seemed interested in a more detailed look at the atlas. I'll probably post it tonight or tomorrow, so if you see it on your homepage, it is a different video, but it will be likely quite a bit longer.

@TrainsFerriesFeet

I couldn't find my dad's 1930s Hammond Atlas, but I did run across a 1950s map of Chicago with my dad's plane ticket from Newark to Chicago. $39.40.

It’s not at a million because I haven’t watched it yet. I save good videos for when I can really concentrate on them. And this will be a good one.

That's awesome. My grandfather gave me an atlas he used when he was a student back in the 1950's. Made by Hammond. It's huge. I love these comments because I get to see that there's still so many people who preserve geographical information of the past.

Just haven't got to it yet. I have my great great grandmas 1875 world atlas. It was a different world in countries and the language used. They seemed to have an interest in depicting shapes of states and countries in a series of squares, rectangles, and triangles.

A historical atlas is fascinating. Most people who have done genealogy will find that the country/kingdom of origin of their ancestors changes frequently.

I had recently watched Disney's FANTASIA on its' 85th anniversary (1940), and thus I rewatched your largest-cities-by-decade video... so this 1936 atlas video was perfect timing. 👍

Note that as a Canadian all the countries in the then British Empire are pink. It seems to lasted as the colour in all School atlases for decades.

Love maps and atlases. Missed the video on the 1936 atlas, I've been busy worrying about my SNAP benefits. I'll catch up now that our government is acting responsible again.
