Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Happy Holidays to you all. It’s Christmas all over again!

We so appreciate watching the Tom Petty Nation of fans grow into a large group of thoughtful and soulful people that radiate the kindness our dad was so known for. We see all of you keeping Tom’s spirit and the band’s music alive at gatherings all over the world.

This season every time you play “Christmas All Over again” remember it is generating funds for Special Olympics. Dad donated all of his revenue from the track when he recorded it, in perpetuity, so it has been supporting their mission for decades.

He did a lot of stuff like that. So we try to continue his spirit of generosity in the world.
You may not realize this, but almost everything you buy in the Tom Petty Store also helps us support charities that would have resonated with our father.

In the last 8 years this store has helped with sizable cash donations to food banks, animal rescues, Autism Speaks, victims of wildfires, and victims of the violent crime in Uvalde. We sent money to aid those affected by the climate disasters in Asheville and Jamaica. We have supported reproductive healthcare resources and supported the NYC Pride March and broadcast.

For several years now, 100% of the Petty Legacy proceeds from your University of Florida/Gators purchases have helped Title-1 schools and supported unhoused families in Gainesville, my dad’s and the band’s hometown.

We have also created the Tom Petty Endowment for Guitars and Innovation at the UF School of Music, which has been enormously successful, teaching guitar-based curriculum by Grammy award-winning guitarists. All driven by the sale of art prints and posters out of this little store plus your direct donations and ours.

After 8 very eventful years, you've helped us give back over a million dollars worth of support to Americans in need, which blows our minds. I wish my dad could see it.

I need to thank Erin, who runs our store and fan gatherings, and our incredible team at Petty Legacy for adding these charities to their already large to-do list as a high priority. In many cases additional work and help was performed by our staff to aid these organizations.

Some folks are still struggling to make ends meet and there is no greater way to remember our dad than recognizing the humanity and generosity we are achieving with you.
Our dad taught us there is so much good in the world to amplify. Joy takes up space and becomes contagious. Just like listening to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

We wish you so much joy this holiday season.
Thank you for helping us give back while remembering our wonderful Dad. We are honored to be in this community with you.
