The Cursed Judge

What's a game that you missed the hype on, but loved (later) anyways?

Red dead redemption 2. Didn’t even heard of it when it released, got it for 16 bucks in Black Friday and it was the only game I played for the entirety of 2024

Baldur's Gate 3. My life was so chaotic when it finally released and I have quite the deep emotional connection to the originals; those two things kept me from checking it out at the time. Over the past month I have been fully engrossed in it and am so happy with what they have done with it.

Omori, I didnt even hear about the game until two years after it came out, and it has become one of my favorites of all time.

I would have to say Skyrim, somehow managed to stay spoiler free until I played it late last year, so I was pleasantly surprised to see what the game actually contained

Undertail managed to stay spoiler free until I saw my friend playing it one day. Bought it, played it and got obsessed with it all in about two weeks.

The first Life is Strange. It has changed me on so many levels that I cannot imagine a world in which I never played it.

Half-Life 2. I got into it around covid on my 360, and fell in love. It's a very good game, It's difficulties scale nicely, and gun play feels smooth. With Half-Life 2 having a steam workshop you can also now mod it to suit you better.

Just the entire era of classic arcades and the culture around it. Seemed like a fun time for games.

Death Stranding! I hadn’t heard much about it when it released other than people didn’t like it but I got it for 5$ at GameStop after I got a ps4 from a friend. Played it and was fully enthralled in it. Was the first truely high definition game I’ve played. One of my favorite games now! Really a meditative and just enthralling experience.

Deep Rock Galactic.I had the game on my wishlist for about 4 years before I started playing. I might not play it every day, but whenever I do I always have a great time either alone or with friends!

Half life 2. I got it when the valve bundle was 6 dollars on steam in 2023 and now I have over 500 hours on it. Honestly changed my definition of a good game entirely and still holds up like new 20 years later.

My mom didn’t let me play Halo growing up. I’m sad that I was alive and young when it was huge but didn’t get to experience the boom firsthand, but it still holds up. But also no, Mom, it WAS appropriate for 10-year-old me. I was right.

Breath of the wild, i didn't play it for years and i didn't understand what was so appealing about it. Now i've played it and i really liked it, i even got Tears of the Kingdom. Not sure i'll finish that one, though...

subnautica… i played it 6 years after it left early access and i ended up adoring it. it’s pretty, the world is huge, it has a good story, and most importantly it’s fun. there’s really no one i wouldn’t recommend it to

TF2, I wanted to play it all my life but I never had a PC. I got one 2 years ago and I play tf2 pretty often, I'm really glad the community kept it alive so I could experience it
