Having had kidney stones since the age of 16 I actually have a number of questions: 1- what are the worst foods that help to cause them? 2- do high protein diets help to cause them? 3- is it true that protein from animal sources are worst than vegetable sourced for kidney stones? 4- do stones break down into smaller clamps once formed in the kidney? 5- does exercise make kidney stones to form? 6- why does one of the kidneys seem to form stones whilst the other doesn’t?

My first stone was silent and in the kidney, no idea no pain but I still dry heaved in the shower after doing some yard work. Then I peed brown and cloudy a short while which was oxidized red cells obviously. The confusing part is there was no pain but the vomit nerve was still triggered.

I had stones coming from both kidneys, one was surgically removed with a TURB the other I expelled normally. Both were calcium phosphate, and for me the game changer was start taking D3 vitamin so I could better metabolize the calcium in my blood. What chemical compounds are stones made of the vast majority of times and which correlation do they have with diet and nutrition? Thank you. M.K.

Does high vitamin C intake cause kidney stones? Also, can you use magnesium to complex with the oxalic acid/ calcium oxalate, making it more water soluble (like we do in the lab)?

Do doctors check for kidney stones before doing a kidney transplant? I just imagine accidentally giving someone stones with pre-owned kidneys.

Why do they keep coming back every 5 years? Like this year, its been the fifth time my mom had to redo the whole process all over again (taking medications, red urine, eswl, ursl, you name it)

Why can't they bust up smaller kidney stones earlier so they aren't so bad to get rid of?
