UN SLAMS Guinea’s Pardon of Moussa Dadis Camara – Calls for Immediate Reversal!

The United Nations Human Rights Office has strongly condemned the presidential pardon granted to former Guinean leader Moussa Dadis Camara by Transitional President Mamadi Doumbouya. Camara, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity over the September 28, 2009 massacre, was pardoned on March 28, 2025.

The UN is now demanding the immediate cancellation of the pardon, calling it a “disregard” for the rights of victims and a violation of international justice standards. UN spokesperson Seif Magango warns that this move threatens the rule of law and undermines Guinea’s judicial process.

Is this pardon justice denied for the victims?
Should the international community step in?
