The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional folk holiday for the Chinese people. Folk customs such as revering and admiring the moon, eating mooncakes, playing lantern games, admiring osmanthus flowers, and drinking osmanthus wine have been practiced since days of yore and continue to be observed to this day, an enduring tradition. The Mid-Autumn Festival originated in ancient times and became mainstream during the Han period. It became the form as we know it today at the beginning of the Tang dynasty, and flourished after the Song dynasty. The full moon symbolizes the reunion of people, and carries longing thoughts of one’s hometown, family bonds, as well as aspirations of harvest, and joy coming full circle...
Tonight, wherever you are, remember that we are all gazing at the same moon shining its light on all of us in this universal home. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone! Link: ytube.io/3Vwg
