The Supremacy Clause
The U.S. Constitution is the "supreme law of the land". This means that any federal or state law that is inconsistent with the Constitution has no legal force. The judiciary's role is to ensure that all government actions and laws align with these fundamental principles.
In essence, the system prevents the government from being a lawbreaker of its own foundational rules by providing a mechanism for an independent branch, the judiciary, to nullify any such attempts. This upholds the principle that no one, including the government itself, is above the law.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed"

Any law that's repugnant to they Constitution is null and void
