I’ve read it several times and always loved it. However, “That Hideous Strength” was my favorite of the three.

Yup. Just finished the trilogy for the first time. The third book, That Hideous Strength, is now one of my all time favorites. Wasn’t expecting it to be. Amazing book! Very prophetic, as well…

Read these 40 years ago seems like it’s time to read again. Glad more people are reading them.

Perelandra is captivating. I always remember vividly the descriptions of the lands upon the sea, the introduction of a mirror, and what happened to the frogs.

The Unseen Realm by Michael Heiser and Live Your Truth (and other lies) by Alisa Childers have been recent books for me. Highly suggest both!

Oh my gosh, literally just finished it today! Amazing book. Liked it even more than Out of the Silent Planet. On to This Hideous Strength!

All three of these books are amazing. Out of the Silent Planet is my favorite. Fun facts: -Christian metal band Silent Planet takes their name from the first novel -Heavy Metal band Becoming the Archetype (also a Christian band) based a lot of the song names and concepts of their album Dichotomy off the third book That Hideous Strength. They also use the disembodied head with tubes connected to it as the album art for that record. -There is a current female-fronted hard rock band known as Paralandra. So yeah. These books literally rock.

Perelandra is weird because you know that in every chapter Ransom is just totally naked and going about his day like a normal protagonist having dialogues, getting into fights, riding on fishes like on horseback.

Love the Ransom Trilogy. That Hideous Strength is basically reading our modern mail.

I’ve read them all, they get progressively better and each one is different enough from the others that it could stand on its own. Hideous strength is definitely my favorite, I’ve read it several times. Oh, and I’m on a Michael Crichton kick, having just finished Jurassic Park and Sphere. Sphere is excellent, I read that and Hideous Strength once every few years.

One of the things we had as bed time stories growing up, next to LOTR, Narnia, and magic bycicle (Spirit Flyer) series

A very interesting take on the Garden of Eden, good and evil, as well as the overlap of spiritual and physical struggles.
