I don’t care what the government decides Easter to be. The resurrection of God is the most important day. I don’t need the government to tell me otherwise.

My partner did a rough estimate of what a federal holiday costs the taxpayers in federal salaries. Makes USAID look cheap.

Separation of church and state doesn't mean we can't encourage Christianity and honor God in the public place! Freedom is religion was too keep the government from infiltrating the church. Of course the government can't force people into Christianity But if we claim to be one nation under God, we need to honor Him, and giving people the day off to celebrate Easter doesn't force people to be Christians. Freedom of religion was originally because of the doctrinal differences after the Protestant Reformation. It was generally assumed back then that we were worshiping the same God. But the founding fathers never intended to keep God out. That's why they acknowledged him and prayed for God's wisdom at the first constitutional convention!

Why do White Americans want to get rid of Juneteenth? It’s a celebration of Western society’s achievements from a time Western society was almost exclusively White, so it doesn’t make sense for Whites to not want to celebrate the day. We need holidays to celebrate the Portuguese, Spanish, British, and Japanese, too. The Turkish abolished slavery, but only after the Ottoman Empire was defeated and dissolved following WW1. Many Arab countries didn’t officially end slavery until mid twentieth century. African countries, Saudi Arabia, and China still practice slavery as do other counties. Whites should really be proud. We weren’t forced to and slavery, we did so by our own accord because we agreed it’s wrong and we crushed those that disagreed. The duality of that has to be appreciated and the achievement celebrated.

This is the only time I have ever seen atheists to furious at a day off from school and work. I wonder why they can’t just acknowledge history and culture for what it is.

Restriction day should be a federal holiday, not any day that celebrates a false God should be worshipped. Ishtar is out, no to Easter.
