Got around to playing Metal Gear Solid Delta:

The devs weren't lying when they said it was a faithful remake of Snake Eater. It's VERY loyal to the source material... To the point where it felt like I was just kinda playing MGS3 again.

The gameplay is about 85% the same with some new bells and whistles added, like modern aiming and crouch walking. The cutscenes are shot-for-shot with the original, too. By the time the credits rolled, I wasn't thinking anything other than "That sure was Metal Gear Solid 3".

That's not a bad thing, because MGS3 is a great game, so this is too. But I dunno, is it worth $70 to have the same exact experience you've had before?

At the very least, I hope this opens up an avenue for new fans to come in through the most accessible game in the series, plot-wise. (Even though that avenue already exists with the Master Collection for cheaper)

Who the hell knows where Konami is gonna go with the series from here. Maybe they'll go the route of Resident Evil and start a remake spree. Maybe they'll say "fuck it" and make MGS6, starring AskYourUncle as Slithery Little Snake. Or maybe they'll go back to pretending the series doesn't exist outside of casinos. All I know is nothing.

TL;DR: I like it!!! Because I like MGS3!!!
