Regular bank account, because there is no tax-efficient high-yield savings account where I live. Anything even remotely high yield is either long-term (so not suitable for emergencies) or heavily taxed. I do keep it in a more stable currency than my own tho.

That money is like 0.1% of our investments. I can't get too worked up if it's not making me every penny possible. Convenience trumps earnings here. I keep it in the checking account. It earns 2% so long as we have over $5K in the account.

I keep my emergency fund in a Certificate Of Deposit. That works better for me than a High Yield Savings Account. Especially with the federal interest rates continuing to drop even more.

I wanted to do high yield but you have to pay taxes on your money's interest. I said no thank you. But im not a huge bank fan either. 😂 dont believe in them

All of my emergency $ and opportunity fund goes into a properly designed high cash value whole life insurance policy with a mutual company. There’s no better place for this sort of capital you want safe, liquid, tax efficient with a good IRR.

Put it in voo. If it drops below your amount then add some more. If it goes up…. Welcome to the show.

I have $1k in a regular savings account with my bank for instant access (a carryover from when I was working the Ramsey baby steps) and the rest in a HYSA. My thinking is there may be a time I need some/all of that $1k in a hurry, but there’s rarely a situation anyone would need more than an extra thousand dollars in less than 24 hours

It is an option at our bank, so I took it. They did only perform slightly over the inflation cost, but it is free money.

Where do you actually keep your emergency fund?
Your emergency fund should earn interest while staying liquid - keeping $10,000 in a 0.01% account vs 5% HYSA costs you $500 per year. Here's my favorite High Yield Saving Accounts (HYSAs): go.vincentchan.co/2E2Y5b
