Coming to the end of this year, its pretty obvious its between four players for the #1 smash bros ultimate player of 2023. Who do you think it is and why?

Too be honest I think it’s: 1. Sparg0 2. Sonix 3. Miya 4. Acola Based on how they play each other. But in terms of placements or results it’s ofc a different statistic. Sparg0 is the only player in my opinion here who is not at least partially carried by their character (not to diminish the skills of the others) but it’s a fact you cannot ignore.

@blackplatapus1776

Everyone else is playing top 3 characters but sparg0 is still beating all of them

@oscar5012

it’s easily Spargo, he beat both Miya and Acola which is 1 and 2 and he beat/tilted Sonix who’s so mentally strong

If we were doing a half season ranking it’d probably be Miya, but since Lumirank is doing full year it has to be Acola. His three worst placings this entire year are 7th and Genesis, 4th and WTT, and 3rd at Port Priority/Maesuma top 11. His worst loss of the year is Hurt for ffs, compare that to Spargo and Miya’s 49ths, Spargo taking two non top 50 losses at Smashcon to Ly and Aaron, and Miya taking a non top 100 loss to Sriks and an okay loss to Jagaimo. Not to mention Spargo’s Summit non top 100 VoiD loss for 13th, and Miya’s Atelier loss at Umebura SP9 for the same placement (both of these players are good but they don’t really have the attendance to be ranked anymore). The one thing Sparg0 does have that Miya doesn’t is a 17th at Port Priority, losing to Riddles and Ken, but that’s not too bad since they’re both top 15 losses. Sonix has a similar portfolio, 13th at Crown losing to Zomba and Gackt (not bad losses, Zomba one ages very well) and 25th at Smashcon losing to Icymist and Ddee. Icymist loss is especially rough, but that is his only non top 50 loss of the season (unless Ddee is unranked which would suck). His h2hs among the top 10 are second to Sparg0 and Miya, but his two demons in Sparg0 and Light hold him back. imo Sparg0 is still #2 for the year just based on his top 4 h2hs and the strength of his wins, but he is upset prone compared to Miya the second half of the year and Sonix. Miya I’d rank #3 and Sonix as #4, but I think Sonix and Miya have the best case for #1 next year out of these 4. For any curious, my top 10 probably is 1) Acola 2) Sparg0 3) Miya 4) Sonix 5) Gluto 6) Tweek 7) Light 8) Riddles 9) Yoshidora 10) Ken (Or Shuton (Or Zomba (Or MkLeo)))

Before Watch The Throne I wouldn’t have said Sparg0 due to inconsistency but he is just so dominant against the rest of the top players. It just wouldn’t make sense to rank him lower then these players that he is just racking up wins against

@LMD123-u6z

It is acola or sporg0

@Kangaroo_IsMe

1. Miya 2. Sparg0 3. Sonix 4. Acola I know it’s controversial but Miya is #1 in the world BECAUSE he has been getting very consistent placements and is beat literally every single top player

@oneofthe12sionmains70

Acola is maybe top 20 in the world but gets carried by Steve, Miya is slipping and now needs the Steve crutch to get the placements he used to, so it’s either Spargo or Sonix. Gotta pick spargo from head to heads at that point
