Unreal University

I am going to create a 30+ minute intermediate unreal engine tutorial and am looking for ideas on the topic.

I’m open to suggestions let me know if you have any ideas!

I was thinking about doing an updated dialogue system that uses MetaHumans with accurate lip sync, so the characters actually say the words they speak and it all looks seamless.

@Hamza-q4d5e

Full locomotion from early scratch (even animations and rigging and character) is almost most wanted thing by developers

The lip sync metahuman tutorial idea is good! Also clothing/cloth assets for metahumans and animating them would be great too!

-Good pipeline to add facial mocap to a character in sequencer(knowing that the body uses different animations.) -How the heck to call animations in sequencer to a character blueprint and have them blend back to gameplay

Would love to see a tutorial on a dialogue system that can activate quests, perhaps even a quest log to integrate with the Inventory system course? To be more specific, I'd like to see a template outline, so it can be tweaked so if the quest is, go here and kill that or go here and collect this and return it to quest giver, complete quest and appear in quest log under completed. That kind of thing, think Dragons dogma 2 quest log.

"I was thinking about doing an updated dialogue system that uses MetaHumans with accurate lip sync" YES! This 1000x times yes. Do this one.

I think a good tutorial would be using animations from fab or mixamo and showing how to retarget. Too often the freebies for beginners they just plug and play and wonder why their character goes to 8 feet tall🤣 could be incorporated into your idea as wel

Even in games US people seem to visit the dentist every week

One tutorial I rarely see is a full gameplay loop. Even a Mario clone of just jumping on an enemy, dying with a game over screen and starting over or restarting the level until you run out of lives would be allot more than most tutorials actually cover. Tying even together with the Player State, Game State, Game Mode, etc would go a long way into helping someone grasp the full picture of a full game.

You should make it about: Stealth, Story and character decision making (choices that affect the character in the long run)

@7hroomy

uncanny valley, these metahumans look like some low budget EA game characters

@dcadjust

I'm happy with whatever you teach, but my suggestions are a "Cinematic Trigger System" How to go form gameplay to a cut scene and back. Or maybe how to use the built in animation tools to create and save animations so we can make our own small animated cut scenes

“How to make a custom metahuman, from a static mesh character from fab, with both head and body customized”

@bartkoch1988

I'd like to know how a custom character could be used as a metahuman.

I'd like to see ways you optimize old blueprints or find ways to be more efficient. Something a 1 year user of unreal wouldn't know.

i STRONGLY suggest good tips on data organization, specifically with data assets and structs to encourage modular coding. I do not see a lot of good tutorials on this

Sounds really cool man, go for it!

Perhaps a "Motion Capture to MetaHuman" topic? A workflow from input to aligning the thing, I'd love to see your take on that

@lukasjagiello86

Metahuman topic sounds really nice, will definitely watch. Some other idea for tutorial i have: PCG, as it's recommended by Epic not only for foliage, but eg. for random buildings, replacing usage of Construction Script. I heard about it, but know nothing how to use it.
