Cow all the way! They are much easier to contain than goats. Feeding cost is zero since we have enough land and grass in our paddocks for a milk cow (whom the children have aptly named Milky 😆 ) and two beef cattle. Being in New Zealand, we have the perfect conditions for growing good grass almost all year-round. We do get dry in January through March. But normally, we can push through with our own hay to help supplement Milky. It has been an incredible cost savings for our family of five

I love my dairy goats, I really do. New Jersey is strict about milk sales, so the goats give our family enough milk while also giving a little extra for cheese/soap. They are so good with my kids too. And easy to transport.

Right now I have both, but i like goats more. They're friendlier and safer for families, but i like beef so we have cows lol

Goats FTW! They need was less space, food, and are fun and frustrating at the same time. Also, when something is or someone is awesome they call them the GOAT, when someone is throwing a fit they used to say don’t have a COW. So that’s gotta get some points too

My first job was on a dairy farm with cows. I just love those animals and always hoped to have one. But we didn’t have the infrastructure for a cow so we got goats as our dairy animal. I was warned about how loud and naughty they were and was prepared for a bit of a battle. But after a year with them I don’t think I’d ever get a cow. The difference in manure alone is night and day. My goats never pee or pop on the milk stand. Cows will go anytime. Goats have little compact poop like a bunny and they stay so much cleaner! I do wish I had cows milk for butter but I’ve decided to just get a cream separator instead. I also wanted to dive in to fiber and wanted sheep. But now I think getting a fiber goat would simplify dietary needs.

I LOVE cows! That said, I have owned neither cow nor goat. I have worked a lot with cows, and only met goats from time to time. A friend said goats are a nightmare to keep contained — jumped straight over 80-90 cm electric net fencing.

Love cow milk. Hate goat milk. Cows have crushed my toes. Goats have eaten my… everything. Still stuck buying bovine milk & owning neither. Will I die? Probably.

Team goats! Easier on the pasture, easier to maintain, basically free to feed! We have 3 does in milk and get just as much milk as we did from the cows at a fraction of the price and upkeep! However I will say, I had Nigerian dwarfs once and mini lamanchas and they were always on the other side of my pasture...but I've had zero issues with larger breed goats

Goats - with free range grazing all of the cons dissapear and the are literally the most economical, healthy and no-nonsense. Restricting their movements is a recipe for disaster and takes all of the ease of care, cost and health out of them
