Depends on what you refer to as "community". Exchanging infos, retro stuff, modding stuff, etc, yeah that community is great. The avarage online player community is pure trash...

i feel like the subreddits for games are always negative regardless of how good the game is or isnt, and every game’s dedicated youtubers are also almost always negative. lack of pre and post game lobbies also sucks.

We all used to be grouped around 1 tv even after wireless controllers. I feel that the internet is what killed gaming. Think about it, if consoles never connected to the internet, games would actually have to be completed before launch, no DLC, no battlepass, no skins. The only time someone called you names, were when you beat someone while you all were on the coutch. Sure its fun to play Call of duty or Fortnite, but honestly we had Unreal tournament and Counter strike. People made stages, skins, and even guns. All free, all community driven.

I miss game lobbies with unfiltered chat. That would get me in the ZONE back in the day

As soon as voice communication overtook text, sportsmanship in gaming all but died because of the anonymity of the internet.

the issue i have is that many places for gamers to gather are gone so it’s not like we’re making friends with other gamers in person. so like you can’t just go somewhere where you know they are a gamer. like arcades are dead, midnight releases a thing of the past, video game stores are dying off, games having less split screen co-op. It’s just all via online. Like back in the day it would be easier for a gamer to date another gamer as they could meet somewhere they know they are gamers. like you can’t really spot a gamer just by looking unless you’re at a gaming thing or game store.

I miss the old lobbies. The toxicity was part of the fun. Nowadays games marketed to adults ban you for saying "heck" or having "butt" in your username.

What I hate about not only the gaming community but every community, it's people being offended by opinions. I have seen people getting mad, threatening others and insulting just because of different opinions.

I think there are still small, tight-knit communities out there that feel like the kinds I was a part of in the early 2000s, but the overall “gaming community” as a whole is absolutely horrible these days. At least online.

I cant play any games that are "online" because i dont play often and everyone is always leagues better than i am so i just lose all the time. I really miss local co-op games. But when i talk with the people i know about games, its always nice

I remember back on 360 playing cod or halo or battlefield and everybody had a mic. Half my Xbox friends list is probably random people who I chatted with. Now no one has mic.

Is the percentage of people who think gaming isnt how it used to be 67

I think people may have rose colored glasses when it comes to older communities. Halo 2 and COD had some of the most insanely toxic lobbies. Also pre and post game lobbies seem like they're dead, plus the rise in party chats, no one talks anymore! The one exception I know of is Arc Raiders. It is truly wild what that game has accomplished. They made NPCs so scary, the gameplay high stakes, & teamwork so available, that it made one of the coolest communities!
