Never ask a DS2 fan how the rest of the game looks outside of Majula

It shouldn’t even be a debate Majula is the most majestic place I’ve ever seen in any video game

I love how the hunters dream really makes you feel like you’re away from it all. It truly feels calm and safe. It makes the final boss being there even more impactful.

Majula for a few reasons. 1. It’s visually just very serene and calming. Like I’d want to visit it if it were a real place so I could just stare out at the sea and relax. 2. It’s the only hub world where NPCs stay put permanently and the only one where most of the NPCs remain safe and comfortable throughout the entire game. In all the other hub worlds the NPCs will disappear, die, turn hostile, etc. Firelink Shrine is a cozy hub but it doesn’t feel like a particularly safe hub with how pretty much every NPC goes hollow or meets with some other terrible end if you progress their quests enough. I also like the hunters dream a lot. It’s visually very calming and its isolation makes it feel very safe. It’s in a totally separate plane of reality from the rest of the game, so it feels totally separate from the dangers present in yharnam. There also isn’t a big cast of NPCs to worry about where one of them could die, disappear, or turn on you without much warning like the other souls games. All of this makes it a profoundly lonely hub world though. It’s very evocative of death both in the presence of all the tombstones but also in its stillness and loneliness. It evokes the quiet stillness of death however and not the violence and pain that often precedes death. It evokes death in a sort of calming way - the peacefulness of eternal sleep.

Firelink isnt maybe a great hub but it is just such a central point in the world and that elevator shortcut is just peak

Majula has always been just so peaceful, especially with that big yellow sun in the background making the hub feel warm and welcoming.

I really like Majula but I just can't help but love the OG Firelink Shrine, it's just so perfect

Honestly the demons souls hub should be up here, as flawed as the game is I think it has a really awesome hub area with lots of npcs and open areas to test out weapons as well as having a fantastic music score in both the original and remake.

Majula has great vibes, but nothing beats the feeling of being completely lost in a hostile environment and suddently finding a shortcut that gets you back to firelink shrine in DS1. Because of the interconectedness of the level design, I’ll have to say firelink shrine is the best one.

DS1 firelink is such a perfect hub. It links so many areas and is the safe place of lordran where everyone gathers to rest and continue their journey. The broken ruins and the music give it a perfect atmosphere. I honestly can't think of anything bad about it.

Regardless of what everyone's favorite is on this list, I think we can all agree that if we see Majula or hear the music, it somehow has the best feeling of nostalgia no matter what your favorite game is in the Soulsborne universe
