Prepper Princess

Just an update on my recent video. I went back for more pecans and made an additional 5 pounds of candied pecans for a total of 7.5 pounds. I gave away an additional 10 boxes and it cost me nothing. I feel like making them was an a-ha moment because I always picked them up and shelled them plain. I like chocolate but with the price hikes and being as keto as I can be, I haven’t been able to have a sweet treat for a long time. Now I have a way of making my own candy that satisfies my sweet tooth AND is more healthy than a candy bar. Next year I will be foraging much more walnuts and almonds in addition to the pecans and will be doing the same process with those as well. Highly recommend!!

Pecans, walnuts and almonds would make wonderful granola or nut brittle.

I lived in CA (San Jose) for 12 years and it wasn't 'home' to me, but I did love (and do miss) the many kinds of food that grow there locally! People at the office would bring in grocery bags full of lemons, oranges, persimmons, etc. from their trees to share, and I had figs, apricots, and peaches in my back yard. I also miss the amazing artichokes!

Awsome treat, with the economy being what it is, treats, snacks at the store are a luxury, food, meals are necessities.

Wow! Amazing! You inspired me. We had a hard freeze in GA this week and the persimmon tree on my dog walk dropped All of its fruit and it is delicious. Much more tasty than early this summer. I think I will make some jam.
