I would like to have a go of an omafiets. A rugged, practical and comfortable bike is what I need. What would be really interesting is if somebody took all the technology developed in sports cycling and applied it to such a venerable design. Light weight and plentiful gear ratios are much appreciated in the hillier parts of the world, especially with lots of stuff strapped to the rack.

I'd like to see the two integrated motors-gearboxes (Pinion and Valeo) put through their paces, steep climbs, starting uphill, shifting gears etc. Are seven ratios of the Valeo enough? I tried it and I was missing an intermediate non-automatic mode. Pinion, is it really noisy? Differences between 9 and 12 gear models?

Maybe the Omafiets from the Netherlands. How the design is more suited to commuting rather than exercise
