OCC Plumbing & Restorations

Hello community! I have a question for anyone who knows anything about Toto toilets... How do you tell when they were made (month, day, and year)? I have wondered this since I started seeing them and I still haven't figured it out.
I have also been wondering the same about Japanese Toto and Inax toilets since I wasn't able to find an accurate date on any of them.

From Toto: Look inside your tank or under your tank lid. Always exercise caution when removing the tank lid, as it is a fragile item. On the china walls inside your tank you will see a model number stamped or engraved in the porcelain. They will have letters with a three-digit number. There may be more letters following, depending on additional features available on that model of the toilet. This stamp maybe on your tank lid as well. For Example: ST743E CST 854 C733 MS974CEFG. The most common location for these markings is on the back wall of the tank, or on the right hand wall, opposite the trip lever. The color code will start with a # followed by a two-digit number. For Example: #01 - Cotton White #03 - Bone #04 - Grey #11 - Colonial White #12 - Sedona Beige #51 - Ebony That said, nothing about manufacture date or bowl info. Maybe it's there by model as well. I reckon that as often as Toto comes out with new models and model numbers, they prolly cease making older models as well. Perhaps date isn't important as far as the Japanese are concerned. So, to that end, they prolly have a database list of models and year made. Could be that it's written in Japanese Kanji somewhere.could also be they track two piece terlits via tank stamp only and not the bowl. Given commercial terlits are one piece deals, it's most likely under the bowl. I'm willing to bet that they do the same for non-commercial too. Don't you have some Toto bowls in your [and BTR, and BEC] collection you could sus this info out? You done good by asking the terlit community. Hope they come through. 😄

Your guess is as good as mine. I can’t figure it out either, but looking at one you can usually approximate at least the year. What I have had is some that were made in the USA, some Mexico, even China. Usually stamped under the bowl or inside the tank. Not sure why a “high end” toilet would be produced in so many different countries

I believe it’s under the bowl, they should just put it in the tank.
