Been seeing these trends of Infection AUs for MLP, so as to itch my brain and revisit the fandom, here is my contribution. Introducing: My Little Hanahaki!
To inform about the basis of this AU, hanahaki is a fictional disease that is born from unrequited love. The disease causes flowers to grow in the lungs of the afflicted and they subsequently cough up flowers/flower petals. The disease continues until the love is returned by the one the afflicted is in love with or the infected dies.
This is probably going to be ship baiting, but meh. The first one infected was Trixie Lulamoon, who is in love with Starlight Glimmer. She hides her love, feeling Starlight is happier with her foal friend, Sunburst. She soon finds herself afflicted by the terrible disease and attempts to heal it with magic. It, evidently, didn’t get rid of it.
Starlight finds Trixie weeks later in her cart, covered in flower petals and thorn covered roots protruding from her body. She takes her to the hospital, accidentally pricking herself. This is the start of a blight that would threaten all of Equestria and love, all cause one pony refused to just admit her feelings…
