The Indian Express

At a Bengaluru construction site on June 14, a call cut through the clang of work.

A teacher from Odisha told 19-year-old Shubham Sabar he had cracked NEET-UG.

“I couldn’t hold back my tears. I told my parents I’m going to be a doctor,” he said. He then told his contractor he would take back his savings.

@Mrroy0123

If he becomes a doctor, then not only is he uplifted, but also his entire community will be inspired. That reservation, I support. Congratulations, brother, for coming on a shining day in your life ❣️.

Such people actually need reservations Unlike my batch mates Who are studying in Allen with me and chilling as they need only 400 to achieve best colleges in India

People commenting "st category", "he's not even 1st".....are some dumb people who don't know what reality is..... imagine yourself working physical labour daily and u have to study too....99% of students won't have the courage and even stamina to do it.....this is what reservation is for....it helps to over come the years of oppression of discrimination, poverty and gives a chance to say " if I'm not rich, I don't have coaching, but still I think I can make it " Edit : yes people misuse reservation....there are countless loopholes in the system....so we should talk about ending castism ( which won't happen in 200 years from now) so it's better to make the reservation system better or invent a new system which encourage uplifting the victims of castism.....which has no loopholes...where .only the deserving ones get the benefits

This reservation.....the kind that actually helps a tribal youth working as manual labourer to become a doctor.....this is the system working.....this I support.....he will prolly uplift not just his family but maybe extended family and friends too....

Near about 12 lakh candidates qualified neet ug, even though he belongs to a caste still he had secured a rank of 18 thousand despite his difficult conditions what he has done is itself a big achievement now the caste reservation will give him a chance to use this achievement to uplift other students

@Originals619

It's all good and proud of you but do not give up during the course.Because many students who get admission is medical college through quota ranks leave studies in between because they realise curriculum is not not something which you can pass with quota you need brain and dedication for it.MBBS is one of the toughest course ever ,so keep going and never give up.

Hope people from opposing state sees this. Because of NEET at-least few of the deserved ones get an opportunity if there was no NEET all the seats will be sold out for recommendations of rich and politic background.
