the "Assault Rifle" in f4 should have been named LMG like it was going to be

Funnily enough the Fallout show actually used the "Assault rifle" as the LMG the BoS knights used, which is what it originally was supposed to be. Bethesda really could not be bothered to change a name for 4.

“It’s so it looks better in the hands of the bigger power armor” Decent concept, Bethesda execution.

Guns in New Vegas had some major issues as well but the nuclear aesthetic just went to a WHOLE new level in fallout 4. I think Bethesda forgot that real weapons existed in this world, like they had an actual military.

Maybe I'm assuming wrong, but I feel like that F4 rifle was trying to be some alternate version of a Lewis gun. If that's the case, then I can at least appreciate trying to represent a really underrated cool gun that rarely shows up in video games, but man did they really botch the attempt.

Whatever the whole debacle with the FO4 assault rifle being the LMG or whatever, there's no denying that thing is literally a vehicle muffler with the shoddiest gun grip in history.

When they upscaled the size of Power Armor in Fallout 4 it apparently made the “FAL-style” Assault Rifles look too small for anyone using it while wearing power armor. The new design they used was originally meant to be more of a LMG type of weapon, which is why it’s so big while still not being as huge as the Minigun. Regardless, I still they should still bring the older FAL design back even if they keep the new one around. It’d also be cool to see a few “AK” Chinese Assault Rifles again too.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas’ modernism vs. 4’s frail and sad attempt at being retro sci-fi

The assault rifle only makes sense if it’s used by dudes in power armor like the show although I think weapons like the minigun and Gatling laser are better choices. Its design doesn’t make sense when you have multiple other assault rifle platforms in the universe that are much smaller and lightweight.

Honestly the only way the F4 “assault rifle would work if it was less goofy looking but had a higher caliber, which would make it a assault rifle for power armor.

ah yes, able to make power armor powered by nuclear energy but unable to use common sense and create ergonomic lightweight guns

I don’t get why they did this. They should’ve kept the fallout 3 guns and made them in fallout 4. G3 rifle fucks hard, and the Chinese Assault rifle was literally an AK Mixed with an RPD.

Should have called it a machine gun and used the cut assault rifle model.

Can't understand why they can't just copy our weapons into the game? Given it's canon how basically every weapon we ever manufacture until 2077, could exist in the universe. Hence the G3, G11. We already have M4s and AKs for in F3 for Odin's sake. And these two series of models are the most widespread right now. Don't tell me they can't take existing rifles and mock them up a little bit. Imagine a Swiss K31 rifle or something like that. That totally looks like a made-up thing, but it's real. It's so easy and probably netter than "Take a Lewis LMG and make it awkward and cringe to look at" And omfg, don't even get me started on the weapons in Stafield.....
