i don't begrudge anyone who goes this route (get your money!), but honestly i'm personally so tired of subscription everything that i've started cancelling a lot of my subscriptions due to wallet fatigue and overwhelm. i'm happy to hear you'll still have free content and wish you luck in whatever you decide to do! ☺️

Appreciate all the content you put out for free Juliette, this is a great channel! I personally follow a few channels and couldn't possibly afford to pay for all of them. But I am truly thankful for all the time and effort that you put in, and just want you to know that it is not taken for granted!

I’m happy to support those channels I really enjoy. I do it via Patreon. I’d be in 👍

Sorry no not for me - as someone else commented I started wondering where my salary was going when I wasn’t ‘buying ‘ anything and then I realised it’s all the flipping subscriptions I’d signed up for. Wish you well , not for me.

No problems going this route, not my cup of tea but gives another option for members. Just needs extra time doing extra special content.

I was a fairly devoted subscriber until recently, but it feels like the channel has wandered a bit recently maybe (past month or so)? There was a bit about sailing, motorbikes, Rouvy rides, possibly some click bait titles. I'm not sure where the channel's main focus is.

Happy to give it a go and see how it works. Personally I would pay for the social Rouvy rides, they’re good motivation.

Ages ago you mentioned your forever waterproof trousers. Can you tell me. (All the ones I see are like hiking pants or large over trousers). Thanks.

Twice in one week I have seen requests such as yours. Ryan van Duzer, Costa Rica Bikepacking Part 1 on YouTube starting around 26:12 is also reaching out for funding. He says that YouTube is no longer the revenue source it once was. I agree with many of the comments regarding "wallet fatigue", here in the USA it also extends to our horrible tipping culture that has grown post-COVID. In the UK, anyone who wants to watch bike racing will soon be whacked with a huge increase. Understood that content isn't free, but as it gets more expensive, many have to make choices. We cancel subscriptions to MAX or Netflix until there is enough new content to go back. I gave up on watching cyclocross this winter due to the cost. UCI still had their races on for free and that had to make do while feet of snow were on the ground. Another issue with supporting an individual content provider is exactly what went on with you, an injury. Ryan van Duzer went into a funk and didn't post for quite some time. Even the seasons play a part if the provider doesn't have the assets to travel to warm climates. For those of us who don't ride inside, a Rouvy session isn't of interest (not saying others might not love it). I wonder how the subscription model is working for GCN (haven't signed up)? Although I watch quite a bit of their free stuff, I have no idea what is behind their paywall. When reading Apple News and you click on an article that is behind a paywall, at least you know what they are offering and can make a decision to subscribe and read or move on to something else. I just watched "The Playlist" on Netflix. It's about the beginnings of Spotify. The founders wanted free music, but that wasn't going to work financially/legally. Premium products like playlists were their answer. Put those behind a paywall (subscription) and make them so darn good that everyone would pay. It also helped that you only paid Spotify, not The Beatles, Stones, Bach... individually. Is there a way that a number of your "competitors" band together to have a single subscription that covered all combined content? That way if you are injured and Katie is on a roll (for example), that would keep new content flowing. I'm 71 and started out as a programmer- then started my own business. In the early 90's (1990's not 1890's) I wanted a web site for my business. Fortunately my neighbor knew all about that and we spend many hours and bottles of wine discussing how to go about it. One thing François Paul told me was to look at adult entertainment. At that time it was the most profitable sector of the market and they had the money to develop the next, newest thing. His advice is probably true today. I see news articles about how some of the OF creators are making tons of money. Perhaps folks are more likely to fund that brand of content (compared to bikes), but I would be investigating the business model. Finally, yes this has been wordy, I would like to address a comment made regarding not being interested in Motorcycles, sailing or even Rouvy. Some other site, or maybe podcast, was talking about Netflix dropping its TdF program after 3 years. He said that he enjoyed watching shows like that, I guess they also did one about Rugby and there is their F1 offering, learning about other sports. I would argue that the same is true on your site. I have enjoyed your food coverage when in some places. Episodes about bikes or equipment, yes. Your being seasick, not so much, but I do understand that. At least that wasn't "live action". Hopefully your equipment sponsors see what you bring. I have purchased several products after seeing them on your site. An Insta360, and several items from Restrap. Good luck and keep us in the loop!

If you do it. Do it via Patreon. There needs to be something really different though to entice people to part with their money. I pay for a couple of podcasts. Just to show I value what they create in terms of the content. These being downtime podcast and countrystride. I would pay them to keep them going if that makes sense. I think YouTube removes that viewpoint as it pays content creators. Not much I'm sure. So maybe I would. But it could be for specific training plans, location guides, route descriptions, campsite guides, van stopover locations. They have a value to like minded people. I think you once tried this with cafes? Just some thoughts. Hope they help. Hope you can continue to increase your income from this.

I get why you’d do it, everyone seems to be going that way, but I wouldn’t pay (not just you, but any of the account I follow). When the next Bikepacking trip?

Love the videos in general and find the routes and adventures really good, particularly if you ride in the Peak District. TBH, i skip product placement, bike set up, on line training sessions and the motor bike stuff so wouldn’t find value subscribing to another paid channel. Keep up the good work.

Echo some of the comments. Personally don’t pay subs as ends up being too many and too much money. Hopefully you can keep growing your existing channel and revenue without feeling need for a 2nd paid subs. Enjoy the content so good luck whatever you decide is best for you

Wish to the best and completely understand. I am not in a position to pay for anymore subscriptions. Wish it were different but everyone who I used to watch is switching to pay streams and the channel I pay to watch bike racing on getting beyond. Soon it will be ride bike for free and watch content for free and that is all I can do. But if you can increase your income go for it

Yes depends on what sort of thing your thinking off I’d be happy to pay ?

Hi friends! I’m considering launching channel memberships. All my usual videos would still be free but I’d do some extra stuff just for members. Wondered if you’d share your thoughts on this?
Thanks
