I drive around my corner of rural America and I see dilapidated houses with half-finished well-intentioned repair projects while the glow of big screen TVs shine out the windows. It keeps occurring to me that the spirit of American community “barn raising” needs to be revived. Everyone has some tools, or supplies, or know-how, or a strong set of muscles. We can revive rural America if we get off the corporate TV channels, organize, and neighbors help neighbors knock these projects out one after another.
