The U.S. has imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss imports (incl. watches), in force since Aug 7, 2025. Early signals point to price increases in the U.S., inventory reshuffling, and buyers reconsidering where and what to purchase.
Switzerland is seeking a negotiated fix, but for now the market is adjusting in real time. We want to hear how you plan to navigate this shift so we can report the real collector view on WatchAdvisor.

Analysts and trade press expect double-digit U.S. price moves (≈12–22%), some brands have already tweaked U.S. pricing and pulled forward shipments ahead of the deadline—signs this will touch both entry and high-end segments. Your votes will help us track the impact across the community.

!!!!! This is NOT a political discussion—please keep comments focused on collector impact and buying behavior. !!!!!

Does the tariff push you to consider alternatives to Swiss?

@WatchAdvisor

Why we’re asking: We’re running four short polls to understand how the new U.S. tariff on Swiss watches affects collectors—prices, sourcing, brand choices, and strategies. This is NOT a political discussion—please keep comments focused on watches and the market.

The smartest thing to do is to wait for a lift of the tariff or buy a used watch. It doesn’t make sense to spend more for a new watch, especially considering we are not talking about essential objects. Also, someone wealthy can decide to invest that money in the stock market rather than a hot rolex reference

My answer is not buying anything right now if there is an increase due to a tariff. Your survey did not provide that as a choice.

My answer is: not buying right now. Going to let the dust settle and evaluate then. Unless my Ad calls with a panda or pepsi. All bets off then and i am sucking it up and buying

German brands have an opportunity to make inroads in the U.S. market. Unfortunately, I suspect they will instead see it as an opportunity to raise prices and increase their revenue per unit sold.

I have not bought a new watch in a long time, so it won't make the slightest difference to me.

Silly poll. No one who actually collects watches is going to stop buying Swiss.
