honestly bro as soon as eren initiated the rumbling and had people in paths, he should’ve kept them in paths if he “cared about them so much”. and then when the rumblings over, he leaves the crystal still in Paradis and ends the titan curse. then we would see the characters decide what to do with him after the fact. mikasa hopefully would move on, the jeagerists vs the alliance would be more compelling, with the jeagerists possibly being the new royal guard. but nah. isayama has written himself as a self insert for the last few chapters. that is no longer eren, that is isayama’s inferiority complex as a manga writer. his inferiority complex bled into erens character, which made eren appear as merely a plot device. literally no story in history has done something this dumb before. i truly do not understand why he did this. sigh.

I cannot WAIT. I'll grab popcorn But fr this idea that eren just wanted to rumble cuz he wanted the world to be an empty land, makes my blood boil, cuz it's not that bad of an idea conceptually, but iayama didn't write it in a way that's believable, rather a last minute ass pull to justify a lot of things. (And it still doesn't work and creates a lot of plot holes). A new cope that I see with ending defenders as of 2025, is that even if erens actions and motivations don't make sense, it's ok cuz "human psychology complex and his mind is conflicted"... and its like, okay, then you better not even think a peice of media is bad cuz I'll be there to tell you the same thing.

While I’m definitely not an ending defender, this is more or less the direction Isayama took with Eren in s4, right? There was always a loose screw in there, it was shown in episode 6 where Eren saves Mikasa in the cabin: heroic in consequence but devilish in ideation and execution. Then, in the subterranean chapel, when Eren is brought to his lowest by the repeated betrayals of humanity, Historia points out to Eren that the Titans were never the problem, humanity and its politicking are. His mother was killed in an assault led by humans, he is bound in chains with arms apart like a tortured Christ because his father wiped most of Historia’s bloodline, a post hoc betrayal of Eren and a sin so heavy he begs Historia to kill him for it, etc. Historia’s influence is very obfuscated in s4 because Isayama flanderized her so in it, but I do think she is the one who redirected Eren’s aggression toward humanity.

God what cope! I really do hate this worthless pseudo intellectual take so damn much! Empathy was another thing that got in the way of his desire to kill people? The legitimate threat of invasion that was the series focal point from day fkn one is just an “excuse”? Are you serious!? Do they seriously not hear how regarded and ass-backwards that sounds? I genuinely can't comprehend why they argue this point when it not only proves that the character had in fact been reconnected but more over it's bad writing even if this was planned by Yams since day one. "Oh but muh chapter 131 conversation with Ramzi!!" Funny because after Eren had seen his father's memories not once does he ever demonstrate this "destroy the world because muh people in pretty pictures" mentality in the slightest, if we were to look at his internal monologue when he was at the medal ceremony, he literally says he's willing to sacrifice himself to give them a better outcome whilst saying he's not willing to sacrifice Historia even when she is (but sure, totally not in love with her btw…😑🙄). But then again were we really going to expect anything less from people whose "superior reading comprehension" that says showing empathy is a sign of psychopathy…? 🤷♂️🤦

If Eren was really sooo dead on doing full scale rumbling and wanted to make everything exactly like Amin's book, s why didnt Eren take powers from his friends and make the world flat? Why didn't he fulfill his dream of making the world as was in armin's book by killing his friends in it too?
