Little later than usual, but I’m not a day late, haha. For the No. 2 spot, I’m choosing season 5. This season was what really marked a turning point in the series for me. It tackled the story of both the training of heroes AND villains, and neither side felt like they had a lack of content. The morals and goals of both the heroes and villains were tested. Toga, Deku, Shigaraki, Twice, and so on. Tomura’s backstory was done very well and it helped in the growing desire for the villains to actually win. There were so many parts on this season I liked, and if I were to pick a favorite, it’d have to be the sad man’s parade. The way the scene was tackled made twice’s power-up feel so natural, like it was always meant to be that way, and it dug deeper into the more complex side of twice that we don’t see often. We watched Shigaraki and the rest of the league finally became a main threat in the series, and seeing Shigaraki can the Liberation Army felt like seeing the rise of AFO all over again. We got to see Deku manifest another quirk for the first time, characters from class 1-B shine (MY GLORIOUS KING MONOMA), and this season just completely felt like the point where all the loose ends of the story that were building up would come together for a climax. Overall AMAZING season and animation.
