731 Woodworks

Be honest… do Milwaukee fans even know why they like the brand, or is it just the red color and hype? I’ve owned some great Milwaukee tools and do like them quite a bit.
But the way folks defend them online can be wild. Let’s settle this: Is Milwaukee really worth the price… or just good marketing?

Its the diversity of applications for me. I use them for yard work, car work and now I'm learning woodwork so it's nice to be able to get tools that I already have the batteries for from other hobbies.

I love my Milwaukee tools. I’ve been an auto mechanic for 34 years but out of the business for a long time so they didn’t really have cordless tools in auto shops when I sold my business, except I had a very very old Milwaukee cordless screwdriver. I believe over 40 years old. I have to get the batteries on Amazon now because they’re different than the M12’s since then I’ve rehabed two houses and a triplex at first I had a couple of Ryobi tools and I switched to Milwaukee cordless the M18‘s and then I added the M12‘s. I must have over 40 Milwaukee tools from saws to ratchets, impact guns jackhammers, sanders, nail guns, blowers, weed wackers. Almost all of them are great. None of them have ever broken or quit working there’s a couple that don’t work so well, but almost all of them are fabulous and I use them hard and beat the heck out of them. Very grateful and impressed!!!!

Milwaukee is innovative and most stuff feels like its as high of a quality as the price indicates. The packout cases are absolutely a better design than many of the competitors and they did it before most. It just shows they put in solid R&D to put out a product that their customer base expects even when there was little to compare to.

They hold up in the field. On construction sites tools get abused and they still last. A woodworker in a shop can have any tool because it’s a controlled environment where only they are using them

For field work where the tools are getting put through the ringer Milwaukee is the best. For shop use it really doesn't matter that much.

It depends. For versatility their M12 screwdriver drill is what accidently got me into modern power tools. For most people, it can work as drill, impact, assembly driver, had torque and trigger settings you can adjust. Milwaukee fills in niches and has overall tool range that works for most people. Only reason I own a DeWalt is because they don't make m18 grabo. Then again, like most PT companies, their accessories are overpriced joke like their fan, most lights(except Milwaukee tower lights), and inflators as they limited in choices too. That stuff Ryobi in selection, options, prices, deals are awesome, that's what I use Ryo I for, battery lights, fans, mister, bug zapper, inflators, and even portable AC power adapters.

My electrical contracting company had been Dewalt tool users in the '00's. There quality of manufacturing deteriorated and their drills only lasted for 2 years. When Milwaukee came out with the first M18 tools we bought a drill and impact tool and never looked back. Also the 5 year warranty on the tools is awesome. I even broke a drill by having an auger bit catch and the handle smashed into a stud and my local repair shop fixed it free of charge.

For me, I didn’t know a ton about tools when I bought my first Milwaukees. I saw feedback online that said they were good so I picked up the drill/driver combo. Then at that point I was in the battery system, so when I needed new tools I just stuck with them. They have all worked well for me, but if I were to do it all again, I can’t say I wouldn’t do another brand. If I went with Ryobi from the start, I could probably afford a few more tools for the collection.

I enjoy my 12v tools, but I refuse to get into their 18v line. Ryobi does great for me in that regard 👍

I dont really what company my tools are, as long as they are good. I have bought "kits" since they usually have good sales and come with extras I want, so I always have at least 1 spare battery per platform. My main tools are dewalt. My tracksaw is milwaukee. And I have some ryobi.

Honestly some tools are amazing and stomp the competition and some tools are absolutely junk I own a ton of Milwaukee tools but I also own a bunch of DeWalt simply bc they are better than Milwaukee on some things. No tool company out there does everything the best so the research and find the right brand for the right tool for the right job. Having two or even three brands and battery platforms is expensive but worth it in the end

I get it all the time too lol. Every brand has their fan club and it seems they will die on that hill. Especially Milwaukee. I’ll keep getting tools I want from any company though lol. I think it’s mainly just what is popular right now.

I’m only in the m12 line and I like the smaller compact batteries vs dewalt and others smaller line

First time I used Milwaukee tools was at the Tesla factory and never went with anything else since, they are reliable and can always be found on deals to never pay full price anyway. I now use the m18 hammer drill mostly for work drilling into doors and just having the batteries made it easier choice to get more Milwaukee and not think twice about the reliability or power

@Griffinwoodworks

As far as woodworking goes, it’s the hype. Just about any cordless tool brand will do what we need in a wood shop. Don’t get me wrong, I love mine, but we don’t exactly need our cordless tools to perform like a beast for pocket holes and doweling jigs lol.

I’ve found the reps and the warranty make it worthwhile

They are actually the best overall. Dewalt does some things better but when you look at the overall versatility of all the different tools they by far the best. M12? No one is even competing! And the M12 line has some truly amazing tools.

I found a Milwaukee M18 impact drill in the alleyway behind my house years ago with a battery and 10mm bit on it. That started the collection for me and I still use that exact drill and setup regularly to this day.

I just got my first. I’ve always thought they were good, I just started with DeWalt and stuck with them for the shared battery platform. After eyeing the M12 installation driver for a year I finally had to pull the trigger when HD offered the drill + 2 3.0 Ah batteries (plus the two 2 Ah batteries that come with it) for $199.
