Not all opposition is persecution. Sometimes you're just being a jerk. Or teaching nopey nonsense.

@Sanslab-wu8tv

“Touch not my anointed” means “don’t kill or otherwise physically attack my servants.” It doesn’t mean we cannot publicly disagree with someone who claims to be “anointed,” and thoroughly explain how and why we do.

I've known Christains who thought they were witnessing when all they were doing is being obnoxious " in the name of the Lord." Relationship: people will not care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.

This exactly! We all need to have discernment and perspective, not victim complexes. 👏

I don't think that most of the Church in America is faithful enough to be actually persecuted. Inconvenienced, maybe, or offended. But persecution comes from all-out devotion under a culture hostile to the faith, and neither of these conditions generally exists here.

@theologamer

And even then, disagreement on the merits isn't persecution either. I don't persecute my JW neighbor when i disagree with him, and explain why.

Are you familiar with the Comic Book The Gospel Blimp? It’s the story of a Christian who was so concerned about seeing his next door neighbor getting saved that he built a blimp and from that he bombarded him with gospel tracts. The neighbor of course was annoyed by all this, so whenever he called the police, the Christian believed he was being persecuted. The comic book is probably out of print but the message is very clear.

My sister: "What's more important: truth or being kind to others?" Me: "Truth." My sister: "That's not true." Me: "You see?"

Matthew 10:28, Jesus says, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

See it on Facebook all the time. Had a guy try to reinterpret the parable of the wheat and the weeds (or tares if you're into the ERV with retained archaics).

All opposition to righteousness is persecution. The bible says “and the Pharisees persecuted Jesus even in the temple”. Were they crucifying him? No. Persecution means to oppose relentlessly to truth. The opposition, you’re seeing is leading the church into captivity (Philippians 1:27,28)
