I just discovered your channel and am much impressed. Are you teaching somewhere? Writing? The question still haunts me: "Which came first, the insight? the emotional experience/spontaneous proto-ritual? or the story? A shaman may have an insight which s/he wishes to preserve and transmit. However, idactic teaching has its limits, even in a literary society. One can attempt to transmit this Insight experientially, through certain exercises or challenges. These may develop into rituals (a prescribed set of gestures, words, sounds, costume, sacred foods and sacred times and sacred places.) Intimation of Secret Teaching can be done by myth telling, or by religious art. But "the way that can be SHOWN is not the TRUE WAY." Institutional religion attempts to create a community which preserves, transmits, and fosters the further development of the Tradition. But institutional religion fails insofar as it becomes self-idolatrous. Thank you for stirring up these ideas in me.
