MONSTER OF THE WEEK: Mega-Horned Rhino

The Mega-Horned Rhino is what appears to be a gargantuan rhinoceros, possibly descendants of the Woolly Rhino that crossed a land bridge to America, so much to be uncovered with this one. From the researched gathered behavior wise, they aren't much different than modern day rhinos. They prefer to live solitary lives, or at the most in small groups, usually made of calves, mothers, and a single bull. Both sexes possess a massive horn that's over 10ft tall in height. This horn is most definitely used in combat, but for many predators and adversaries alike, just seeing that horn is enough to stop an attack. Their fur is almost similar to Velvet in texture due to how fine it is, it's unsure why the Mega-Horned Rhino kept traces of its fur, instead of fully losing it all like the "Not so Woolly Mammoths" (I know Nick was the one who came up with that stupid name, when I see him again...). That aside, Mammoths are one of the many herbivores the rhino happily coexists with, though other animals give it a wide girth as it is prone to charging when startled.

Small bats, flying reptiles and the few birds in The World Below will "Clean" the rhino's beard, ridding it of any parasites such as ticks. Another bizarre trait with the Mega-Horned Rhino is the pair of tusks on its bottom jaw. My hypothesis is that they're used in interspecies combat or possibly display as well. Although it stands taller than an African Elephant, it's still preyed upon, specifically The Loricatherium. Unlike rhinos on the surface world who face near extinction, Mega Horned Rhinos have a very stable population in The World Below.
