Does Donkey Kong Bananza give you motion sickness?

@awes5893

Didn't even know this was an issue people are having. The only lasting thing I've gotten from the game is the desire to eat bananas.

@bendv333

No, but when I close my eyes I see bananas

Turning off camera shake helped me a ton, and now it doesn’t bother me at all!

It can be disorienting sometimes, especially when you're underground and the camera goes "first person," but it's never enough to make me feel sick.

No but fun fact : when I started playing DK, I intuitively wanted to use ascend to exit a tunnel. Then, when I went back to TOTK, I was frustrated I couldn’t break through every wall.

I actually sometimes do, which normally doesn't happen to me a lot with games. But for some reason only during TV mode, handheld is perfectly fine. Only other game I experiences that with being Yooka-Laylee Impossible Lair.

Watch Sakurai's video about motion sickness, it helped me overcome this problem for this specific game.

Yes, particularly on dock mode. Then I turned off camera shake and that helped a lot.

All I hear now is BA-NA-NA. I can't get it out of my head.

I haven't gotten Bananza yet. But I get motion sickness. Thanks for all the tips. I love DK and want to enjoy the game.

Yes, and a headache. After 4 hours of playtime I have stopped and not looking forward to trying again.

The only time I ever felt motion sickness from playing a video game before was playing Portal on the Xbox which made sense with how it is designed (it was one time playing through the whole game). This newest Donkey Kong game I have felt it really mildly. I turned off camera shake, but I don't know yet if that fully fixed the issue I was having or not.

Don't own it, but the clips sometimes do. It's a big part of why I don't play 3d platformers.

I was sick all last week and I thought that’s why I felt nauseous. Turns out even after I recovered, I still felt nauseous every time I played. I just didn’t realize it was DK’s fault.

I've read about people having issues with it, and sometimes I have issues with the camera, but I feel like that's to be expected in a game like this.

Some games have given me motion sickness if I pan the camera around too much. Especially games like Minecraft. I've had very little issue with DK. Maybe it's because I don't use my larger tv screen.

I turned off camera shake. So I haven’t had any issues. I also like it because I can appreciate the details more.

My wife suffers of heavy motion sickness, like she cannot watch anyone play Splatoon, including her own replays. VR is out of the picture, instant motion sickness. Although she had 0 issues when playing DKB. If you have motion sickness, my suggestion is to picture a dot in the middle of the screen and focus your eyesight there. Some games actually allow you to place a dot (like cyberpunk 2077) for this reason.
