Often you must have heard the story of a Sportsman, but today we can proudly say the video is on Real Sportswomanship. The video chronicles the journey of an athlete with a lifelong passion for sports, beginning with her participation in school tournaments during her childhood. Her dedication and talent eventually led her to a significant milestone: competing & winning the District Champion award in the District Meet. After she was clueless, felt uncertain about her sports career and the next steps in her athletic journey. Driven by her hard work and keen interest, she regularly wrote inland letters to Kalinga Stadium to seek information about upcoming events and the selection trial period. Her proactive approach and determination paid off when she got to play at Kalinga Stadium, Cuttack. Subsequently, with support from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the sports hostel, she received advanced training, significantly improving her skills. Her hard work culminated in winning a gold medal at the Junior Commonwealth Games, and she was subsequently selected for the senior state meet for India. She participated in many national & international games like the Common Wealth Games, Asian Grand Prix , SAF games and many more.
She got motivated after watching the performance of Mr. Dilip Tirkey Sir in the Olympics & dreamt of competing in the Olympics and winning a medal for India but everyone mocked her. But she achieved her dream of participating in the Olympics, proudly representing India on the world stage in Kazigsthan.
She has expressed her gratitude to the State and Indian governments for their support and initiatives in sports. She highlights how these initiatives have greatly benefited athletes, mentioning that the government has introduced programs allowing athletes to choose their preferred schooling with bus facilities provided. Additionally, for those coming from outside the state, online classes are available, ensuring they can continue their education while pursuing their sports careers.
She addresses a common misconception that women excel in sports due to less competition. She firmly counters this by stating that the competition is equally rigorous for everyone, regardless of gender, with all athletes having to compete through quarter-finals, semi-finals, and then finals. She also highlights the unique challenges women face, such as taking breaks from their sports careers for marriage or parenthood, making it more difficult for them to return to peak performance. In contrast, men generally do not face these same restrictions, allowing for more uninterrupted career progression.
She has urged the government to establish R&D centers focused on development, vision, and upgradation in coaching practices. This, she believes, is crucial to support athletes and help them excel in their respective careers.
Lastly she shares valuable advice for those aspiring to build a career in sports, emphasizing that there are now numerous facilities and incentives provided by the government. These resources and rewards can significantly aid athletes in achieving their goals, making it a more viable and supported career path than ever before.
So if you have a passion for sports and dream of building a career in athletics, this video will be an invaluable source of motivation and information.
