I keep turning off Closed Captions and then randomly it turns back on again. Even after going into settings and turning it off across platforms (phone, TV and website). This has been going on for maybe 2 years.

That's funny, I have the opposite problem. I keep auto play on yet half of the time it doesn't work for me and I have to manually press play

It's doing it across all the devices I use YouTube on too... And it's been happening for months. It doesn't always do it, but every few days it often will turn on. It's been happening since before the UI update too...

When I want to watch a YouTube video, I download it and save it to my computer. No ads, no bullshit, just me and a .mkv

YouTube’s goal is to keep you on the platform as long as possible. Back in my day you could turn off autoplay on playlists and you didn’t get “radios” and “mixes” when you wanted to pull up a song. And the radio one doesn’t let you turn off autoplay.

Oh my god I thought I was always accidentally tapping the autoplay button this whole time but it was just YouTube being YouTube

i keep turning it off because i sleep to YouTube and would wake up to a documentary on plants

I have the opposite problem, it keeps getting tuned off for me but I have premium so the only thing YouTube gains from my videos playing all night is paying more to send me videos while I sleep. What a strange coincidence.

From what I’ve noticed is that YouTube remembers stuff on different tabs. So say you had a tab muted on YouTube but your other tab wasn’t muted, and if you click another video in that tab, it will go muted. Even if you unmute again, if you interact with the other tab your next video will be muted. You might have a tab somewhere with auto play on, maybe in your personal computer or another computer or tv or any device, and for some reason YouTube keeps defaulting to those settings, which keeps auto play on

Yeah it does. Who tf wants auto play on YouTube? This isn't Hulu. I guess YouTube just knows better than us

Does YouTube autoplay keep turning itself on for you guys??? I ALWAYS HAVE IT OFF! -- I can't find people complaining about this online but it can't just be me.
With the YouTube "improvements" lately I'm a little suspicious that it's intentional. It never used to happen and I've been using YouTube my whole life.
