the summer of 2020 especially. im not sure why but the quietness and serene feeling combined with the good weather gave off a sense of genuine peace despite the world being chaotic during that time.

Late night bus rides for me. I still remember me returning back to home from college ..and i used to take a 6 hr bus trip starting at midnight. With the roads empty and everyone in the bus sleeping....it was quiet for the most part. The empty fields we used to pass by....just staying awake amd watching those gave me a surreal feeling.

I remember showing up at my school pretty early with some of my classmates and getting on a really nice charter bus. We went on a field trip to Six Flags Over Texas. Also my family and I moved into a new house in 2020. For the first few months there, I was sleeping in until the sun was already up. But then one day, I had my first time experience of being awake in the new house before sunrise and it felt surreal to me.

I'm from Brazil and going to night school is extremely common here, if I had the option of going to a supermarket when it was closed I would vote

Definitely the last day of summer for me. More specifically the last evening before I went to bed. I remember my last evening of summer before I started 1st year uni and feeling this weird feeling. It was a feeling of being on the threshold of a major life changing event but one that hadn’t happened yet.

Not necessarily a bus trip but I remember returning from a field trip late at night and part of the trip was us riding on a large ferry at 11pm. It was pretty much empty, like you’re the only one on board riding through the darkness, hearing nothing but the engine of the ferry and the ocean waves.

Airports for me. There's just something about doing a book of puzzles in an airport breakfast lounge at 4AM.

Rainy days at school for me. It just creates such a calm and sureal atmosphere, and you just can't help but just stand there and enjoy it while it lasts.

For me it’s waking up at 3-5 AM and watching the sky slowly get lighter

Going to school at night is so surreal... Like, what would you do in school at night? Using the girl's bathroom? Chatting with library ghost? Collecting pens from other classrooms?

As the manager of my high school cross country running team, since I’m not running, my mother doesn’t watch or pick me up. I have to ride the bus and hour home, often with little phone battery. Superbly surreal

When its raining at school in 5pm for me, it just so calm whenever there is no class that time i would enjoy the cold wind and watch the rain

late night bus rides are probably the longest and most contemplative. A night at an airport certainly could be but there's often still quite a bit going on there, even if there aren't any flights leaving.

Airport/bus station-center at 4am. I live in Mexico, I've been in both situations here and it's so weird. It seems everyone is minding their own business but you can blink otherwise you get your shit stolen, or you'll miss people in odd outfits, or a weird situation when you go out to buy a snack and see random pedestrians in those hours of the night. The sounds of the mostly empty streets, the voiceovers announcing the arrivals-exits while you save your battery life for an emergency...

Going to/leaving from school at night. I once had to go home late because I was helping my mom with a bazaar at school and it felt like an entirely new experience. Another one is having to go to school at like 6pm
