Dog Whisperer

What’s the first thing you’d do if a dog snapped at you? 😳

Exactly what Caesar just did. I've raised all my Dogs this way, raised Boxers for 20 plus years & still have a Boxer & a Cane Corso Mastiff. Teach them to respect your leadership gently but firmly as puppies & you never have problems like that to begin with.

Okay....I did laugh a little. 😂 We all know Cesar did not harm the dog and only placed him in a submissive position super fast, but that was hysterically edited

My dog, a shar pei I adopted, was super aggressive when I first brought him home. He bit me twice that first week, and not little warning bites either. I have scars. I did what Cesar did here. He also went into blind attack mode at anyone who passed by my house, and again I would pin him down. But it was sometimes a full five minutes before he stopped shaking and trying to get up to go after them. Very intense dog. He's calmed down tremendously, but I can't let people pet him. Weak energy annoys him and he'll nip at people to make them stop it. I tried recruiting some friends to help me with this, but they think he's just so cute, and I see his body tense up and I have to intervene. Never mind. He doesn't have to be everyone's friend, it's fine.

I have a ninety pound Siberian husky/ timberwolf/Alaskan Malamute mix. Owned 5 Alaskan Malamutes before him and learned decades ago that you can't have a dog thinking that they're in control of your household. The day I chose him, he was the only puppy in the litter who showed me immediate respect and chose me. I didn't get him until he was a full three months old, so he had plenty of time with the other dogs to learn socialization and respect for the pack leader. When he snapped at me as a puppy, I growled at him with teeth barred. He lay on the ground and rolled over on his side. Flipping him like this wasn't an option. He's almost ten years old now, and if he does something I don't like or snaps at me, I growl at him, and he lays down on the floor and goes over on his side and stays there until I give him permission to get up. I established zero tolerance for that kind of behavior at a young age and let him know in no uncertain terms that he was not going to be in charge. For me, acting like someone worthy of my dog's respect and consistency have been the key.

Years ago I had a golden retriever mix (that looked exactly like a black lab) that we got from a farmer he was only a few years old. Overall he was a good dog but there was a few hiccups, when I was sitting on the couch and he was laying next to it I wanted him to give me more space but he started to growl at me. I immediately put a leash on him, corrected him and put him on a place mat then sat back down. He never growled at me again. Things like that define your relationship, even if it’s a new dog I will never let them get away with bad behavior. What you do in the first few days sets the tone for your entire relationship. I’ve had them all aggressive, fearful, hyper active, overprotective, happy-go-lucky, dominant it doesn’t matter my rules remain the same. I’ve never been bitten by one of my dogs and I’ve never had one of my dogs bite another dog or human.

@gh02tdu2t

i got attacked by a pit/lab during vet assistant training. he was latched onto my arm and i immediately turned my face away and covered it. my instructors told me not to pull and i didnt. i just shut my eyes and waited for them to get him off me and i ran once they did. since i didnt pull, i didnt bleed, but i know its not that easy in all cases, i got lucky. i also do not blame the dog, he was just scared and confused is all

I need try not do it because of the dog owner need to be trained by you Cesar Milan and my favorite thing about dog trainer should trained dog owner first and that owner added their dogs to be trained together and let the owner trained their dogs their shelf

Exactly what you just did. Though it should have been the owner that did that correction. That is her responsibility. My dog would never, ever put teeth on someone. I would not allow it.

Hey, everyone… I think anything “Dog Whisperer” is not owned or controlled by Cesar Millan. I suspect Cesar was cut out entirely by the producers. He didn’t have a good contract. Therefore, like Taylor Swift’s original recordings, don’t watch anything “Whisperer” if you’re a Cesar fan. Instead watch his new material. If anyone has more detail or I’m incorrect, please link to original sources.
