Panic attacks can be scary, but there are ways to manage them. At Sullivan + Associates, we want to help you understand and cope with panic attacks.
Know the early signs: Shortness of breath, tightness in chest, racing heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, nausea, trembling, and fear are all common symptoms of panic attacks.
Breathe: Breathe in slowly through your nose, feel the air fill your chest and belly, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat several times.
Realistic self-talk: Remind yourself that this is a false alarm, it will pass, and you will get through this.
Stay present: Ground yourself by naming five things you see, four things you feel, three things you hear, two things you smell, and one thing you 1 taste.
