Jefferson Airplane

“New York City had its own flavor, as did Los Angeles, but the city that would ultimately transform the landscape more than any other was San Francisco, with Jefferson Airplane leading the way.” -ULTIMATE CLASSIC ROCK

Released 36 years ago today, JEFFERSON AIRPLANE marked the band’s final studio chapter. The 1989 self-titled album brought 13 new tracks—including “Planes,” “Madeleine Street,” and “Freedom.”

I believe this lp came out with a reunion tour in 1989. I saw the show at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. They were fantastic. I agree this lp doesn't get the credit it richly deserves. I just wish they could have stayed together long enough for at least one more after this. If I remember correctly Grace wore a white mini skirt with boots, she looked hot even in 1989.

I never had a problem with this album. It sounds like 1989, just like 'Volunteers' sounds like 1969. The only missing part here, or person, is Spencer Dryden. Wished he could've played on it, making it a complete band reunion from the 'Surrealistic Pillow' through the 'Volunteers' era Airplane. Love Grace's "Common Market Madrigal". Could have/should have been all over the radio back then. Sure, it would have been great with some fire breathing political shakers, but times being what they were.....well, if you lived through that era, then you get what I'm saying. Who knows, maybe this album will one day spark some kind of interest from a generation yet unborn.
