I'm leaning basement stories only because I do home carpentry/home renovation for a living. Last basement I worked on CREEPED me 0UT! Had all the doors locked while working in the basement & it sounded like someone was walking around upstairs constantly without anyone else being there with me. Kept looking around the upstairs and never found anyone/anything present...

I like to watch people's hiking videos when they stay at the very remote Bothys in Northern England and Scotland. Mostly they have a pleasant uninterrupted stay but the potential for eerie happenings is huge! So remote cabins please...and scary real people!
