Ding's long unbeaten streak makes me feel like he has the edge. He's a tough nut to crack.

Reading these comments makes me happy because just like he was underdog for the candidates, I want him to be the underdog for the WC match coz that's where the fun lies. I want to see him defy the odds again. May he conquer the universe to justify his name.

Theres is enough time for things to go either ways..Whatever the result, it will not be an easy win..Gukesh will have some surprises in his pockets..It will be fun irrespective of the results.

If Gukesh wins, I wonder if Magnus will want to play him for the World Title, because he did day he wanted to play the new generation

gukesh getting this far was a wild outside impossibility and him getting any farther at any point in the next five years is an even wilder outside impossibility. ding is cautious and unlikely to underestimate his opponent, we can be very confident that he's going to win with few problems. I'm personally pulling for gukesh but if he wins it will be actual chess history (and not just because he'd be beating a record) and that is very unlikely. one thing i will say is that if he does win and become WC, then we can know with certainty that in 20 years anyone will only remember magnus and ding as the last two guys to keep kasparov's chair warm before unbeatable gukesh finally sat in it.

I think it depends on how much Ding will improve over the next few months.

Ding is out of international match form, though we don’t know what he’s been doing in China. He does seem to have had some sort of serious mental breakdown after winning the world title, although maybe it was just exhaustion. If it’s psychological, then Gukesh may have a real edge. He’s in form and has everything to gain.

Depends entirely on what they agree to, whose got the bigger machine behind them. It's a matter of dollars and commerce, I mean cents.

If Gukesh wins he be first world champion who is not even adult in most parts of the world ( considering legel age of 18) Creating a history

Ding's self-management is rather... unique. That's not a criticism or anything; his way is just different. So it's difficult to predict his performance based on anything. What I can say though, is Ding is much more experienced than Gukesh and less prone to cracking emotionally. So I think Ding is the favourite. We'll see.

I love chess and I enjoy watching top level games. But since Magnus gave up his title I feel like these "World Championship" matches truly don't matter.
